Happy Birthday D-ma!!!

Last Wednesday was my Mother-in-Love's birthday...also known as D-ma.We celebrated her birthday at my brother-in-law's house and had good food and good times.


They served blackened fish, rotisserie chicken, potatoe skins, and corn on the cob. It was ALL delicious!!

We had a great time singing D-ma Happy Birthday...

But the best part was blowing out the candles!!

Mikey showed us his new Jeep...


Mikey showed us how he likes to drive...





And he even gave Uncle D a ride...


Overall we had a GREAT time celebrating D-ma's birthday.

Inside Decor, Outside...

I love to bring inside decor to the outside.

Most of you have already seen my Knight Resort post HERE, so you've seen a lot of the inside, outside.

I have had this pretty hanging from our fence for about two years now.
But it needed a little something to dress it up...


I had this sweet little cherub angel that I bought at least a decade ago.


And I don't mind saying that it looks PERFECT hanging above this woodwork on our fence.


It's the small things that make a HUGE difference!!

I was so excited when CSN Stores contacted me about hosting a giveaway. I found myself browsing the categories Home Decor, Home Improvement and Outdoor the most...go figure :) This site has items ranging from artwork to recessed lighting to outdoor grills!! You'll spend HOURS browsing the site and all the goodies.

Project #2...

I normally like to decorate my front door for each holiday. But right now, there really isn't a festive holiday to celebrate until July 4th.

I have had this cute little shelf hanging by our door, but couldn't decide what to put on top of it. So I took an old terra cotta pot and painted it black.

Then I filled it with a pretty  purple verbena plant.

The pot fit PERFECTLY on top of the shelf!!!

Just a little touch to change up our front door.




So here is our front door...that is, until July 4th gets a little closer.

Project #1...

I have been so busy at school that I haven't had enough time to do some of the things I LIKE TO DO!! So I took the opportunity this weekend to do a few projects.

My mom gave me (well, I think it's on a long LOAN) this awesome antique tool box. And I finally decided to fill it with some goodies...

Garden Stakes!!!

I have had these garden stakes for a long time (mom gave me these too) but since I haven't  started a garden yet, I decided to save them until the day my garden is planted.

I also raided my collection of glass jars...
Some of the jars are antiques that I've had in the attic and some are pickle jars, spaghetti sauce jars, and relish jars that I've cleaned out and saved.


I took the jars and filled them with the garden stakes.

I also added a few antique hand shovels to the end of the tool box. I need to get a few more shovels the next time I go antique/flea market shopping. Mom and I found an awesome place that sells them for $1 a shovel!!!

Project #1: A cute little vignette for my back porch!

My Hometown...

I am participating in Kelly's Show Us Your Life, My Hometown Edition!!

I currently live in Jacksonville, Florida, but my hometown is Baytown, Texas. Baytown is little town on the skirts of Houston, Texas. So I normally say that I am from Houston when asked.

As I think about things that I miss from my hometown, these are a few things that come to mind...
Unfortunately, we do not have Jack in the Box in Florida, so every time I visit Houston, I make SURE we make a stop for some of their tacos!!!

Vic & Anthony's is the BEST steakhouse in Houston--in my opinion :) The prices are SKY HIGH, but the food is OH SO WORTH IT!!!


The home of the Houston Texans, Reliant Stadium. This stadium was built a few years before I moved to Florida and it is absolutely GORGEOUS! The top opens and closes and it is an ideal stadium to enjoy some football.
I am absolutely in LOVE with my  current church, Southpoint Community Church, but I sure do  miss Lakewood Church too. There is just nothing like sitting in a church with 1000's of people, praising God, and singing.

And of  COURSE I miss these people like CRAZY!!! These are my parents...Jim and Jill. If I could just move them to Jacksonville...don't worry, I'm working on that :)

So that is just a small glimpse of my hometown. I'm looking forward to a trip to Houston this summer and visiting all my favorite places (and people)!!!
