My New Focus and New Motto...

I have had a week of ALL weeks and set-backs of ALL set-backs.

Instead of re-living my week all over again and journaling about all the things that upset me..I've decided to change my focus and to live by a new motto.

I will be focusing on my faith...

My marriage...

My parents...

And our vacation...

My new motto is a Bible verse that sums up my thoughts...

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."~Romans 12:12

Beach Preview...

We have had a special guest at our house...David's grandma, Grammy. David's uncle was out of town for the week and Grammy spent time with us. It was nice having her around the house to share meals with, listen to her stories, and to be thankful that we are able to spend time with her.

On Sunday we took a trip out to Crescent Beach, a NICE beach only about 30 minutes from our house. Some friends of ours take a staycation to Crescent Beach each year and we always get an invitation to visit.

Here is a pic of our view from their condo....

It was just clearing up from a rainstorm whenI took this pic, but you can get an idea of how pretty the dock leading out to the beach is.

David and Grammy posing on the dock for me....

My brother-in-law, nephew, and hubby walking out to the water...

Daddy and son, playing in the sand...

Uncle D burying Mikey...

Although the day started out with a storm, by the end of the afternoon we had clear blue skies!

This trip gave me a small preview of what I have to look forward to...our Destin trip in TWO WEEKS!

Green Damask...

Okay, I admit it...I'm addicted to damask. I just love it and can't get enough of it.

Since I'm planning for our party in July and using a green and brown theme, I couldn't leave my sweet Kodi out!! So I picked up one of these for him to wear that day...

Is this NOT the cutest bow tie you've EVER seen?????

I can't wait to take pictures of how cute he'll be sporting his new tie :)

We offer more patterns of these bow ties for dogs at our Doggie Boutique. Take a look at my Doggie Boutique Blog HERE for more pics of all the different styles.

Change is Good...

Remember the old wooden crates I picked up at a flea market with my grandma (Mother) when she was visiting?

Well, I LOVED how they looked, but since I've had them the same way for a few months, I thought a little change would be good.

So I rearranged some of our plants, found some new growth in our yard, and now these wooden crates are accessorized with these beauties...

I think they are missing one little detail...

Although I'm NOT a big fan of change, this change is good :)

Three-Day Weekends...

Although I work at a school, I still work throughout the summers. Luckily, we work four day weeks and I have a three-day weekend to look forward to. But, to be honest...10 hour days are LONG!!!!!!!

But since today is my "Friday" I thought I would share my plans for the weekend!

Tonight I plan on cooking one of our favorite meals...

Chicken/Broccoli and Rice Casserole!! The hubby introduced his recipe to me years ago...his special ingredient? Curry Powder...YUM!

I also plan to get caught up on this...
Our DVR is crammed FULL of shows...from the Bachelorette to One Life to Live to Oprah!!

I also plan to spend quite some time in this...
I want to catch some rays this weekend at home, but we also plan to attend a pool party at our cousin's house on Saturday.

And last, I'll be spending quite a bit of time here on Sunday...
I absolutely LOVE our church and unfortunately I haven't been in a few Sundays. So I plan on spending the day at Southpoint Community Church on Sunday AND it's also my weekend to work in the nursery.

So what are YOUR plans for the weekend???

Party Planning Update...

I posted about an upcoming party we are having in July HERE and I've been trying to get all the ideas, decorations, and details taken care of BEFORE July. The first week of July we will have a visit from my parents (and I am SO excited to see them because it's been WAY too long...I think April was the last time we saw eachother) and the second week of July we will be in Destin (if the Oil Spill doesn't ruin our plans). Our party will be the third weekend in July, so I'm hoping to have this party planned in advance so I can enjoy my two week vacation.

Since my last post about the party, I've done quite a few things...
I was pleasantly surprised to receive one of these COOL buckets...in green of course. Since we are having a pool party, the bucket will come in handy and keep our drinks nice and cool.

I also found these adorable pom poms on Etsy...

And I've heard that they are easy to make...

So since I think I'm pretty crafty, I'm going to try it out and see if I can make a few of them to hang from our outdoor patio umbrella.

Speaking of outdoor patio umbrella...that's something we need to purchase. A friend of mine told me they saw one at Sam's Club, so I'm hoping that our Sam's has a green one that would match with our decor.

We also are in need of about 10 bushes to line our pool deck. The hubby wants to get gardenias because they smell so good.

I feel pretty good that we are making progress on the party planning...but we still have quite a few things left to do!!

Red, White and Blue...

We had our school's End of the Year party last week at the University Club. The party was a blast and our view was AMAZING!!

The theme for the party was Country Summer and our Hospitality Committee did a great job decorating each of the tables.

They put one of these buckets on each of the tables and filled it with lots of summer goodies...

Some of the items in the bucket were a racket, fly swatter, sunflower seeds, lemonade, and a bottle of root beer.

I LOVED the bucket and thought it would be the perfect accessory for a Fourth of July party. Well, lucky me...we picked numbers and guess who picked the right number???

ME!!!

I can't wait to fill this cute bucket with lots of cold drinks this Fourth of July!!

What I'm Loving These Days...

Here are a few things that I'm loving these days...

Parmesian Garlic Triscuits!!!
I eat these as a snack almost every single day. I just can't get enough of them :)

These beer/water buckets from Horchow...
I think the green one would be perfect for our party in July!

Papa Murphy's Pizza...

This is a new restaurant in Jacksonville. You literally design the perfect pizza for your family, pick it up from Papa Murphy's, and then either save it in your freezer for a later date or pop it in your oven. And the prices are SO inexpensive!! We purchased two family size pizzas and an order of cheesey bread for just $23!!! I forgot to mention how GOOD the pizzas are too...YUMMY!

Yellowbox Flip Flops...
I have several pair of Yellowbox Sandals and just can't get enough of their sparkle and comfort!! This style is called Debbie and I just LOVE them :)

It's funny because I didn't watch the first season of SYTYCD and my mom, sister, and #1VBF convinced me to watch season two. I've been hooked ever since!! My mom even gave us tickets to see the SYTYCD tour when they came to Houston last year. I haven't danced in almost 5 years, so I get my dance-fix by watching the show :)

What are YOU loving these days???

Sting Eze...

It doesn't matter what I do...I ALWAYS get bitten by mosquitoes, horse flys, no-see-ems, etc. It doesn't matter where we are or what we're doing, if anyone is going to get bitten, it will be ME!!!

Fortunately, a dear friend told me about Sting Eze...

It is the BEST thing ever!! And believe me, I've tried anything and everything to get rid of the staying up all night and scratching my legs, arms, neck, and back until I'm bleeding :(

Sting Eze really works and literally relieves the itching of ANY insect bite. I purchased 5 tubes of the stuff and put one in my makeup bag, my purse, my car, and my medicine cabinet. Luckily it was less than $3 a tube. And believe me..it is SO WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!

Now, my next mission???? Finding a product that prevents me from getting bitten in the first place!!

Any suggestions?????

Potted Goodness...

I have a million quite a few potted plants in my yard. My husband thinks I'm nuts because I seriously can't get enough pots...which means I need to fill them with plants :)

I played around in my Cactus Garden this weekend and I still can't get over how pretty cacti can be.

I am so anxious to see what these blooms will look like when they finally come out!

I also put a plant in this antique tool box that my mom gave me...

The tool box looks SO different with the plant than when I originally showed it to you HERE.

This pot is one of my favorites...

And it is filled to the brim with all kinds of pretty flowers and cacti...

Now that's what I call potted goodness!!
